Recent review of exhibition at WIT Gallery in Lenox, Massachusetts
The Independent  -
 Excerpt:
"A tiny side gallery, an alcove, showcases two more artists whose works dominate this show if you let them.
The first is a free-standing screen by Ines Smrz.  It consists of seven wooden panels, just over six feet high.  They are carved in bas-relief style, which creates a sense of reality in its minimal depth that brings the painted figures forward into the room.  Using acrylic paint and stains, the entire piece lacquered for its finish, the artist presents a drawing room scene from the late 1920s.  Five elegant people gather around a piano at which is seated an equally elegant woman, her hands raised in the proper position for playing Chopin, Gershwin, or Irving Berlin.  Palm trees weave and bob in the background; martini glasses are in evidence.  Art Deco in design, this work literally breathes a reality into its space.
Again, there is that desire to touch and this time you must.  This is a sturdy study in period attitude and can withstand the scrutiny of the observer.  If all of Ms. Smrz's artworks are this accesible, I hope to have an opportunity to see more of them in the future.  Her combination of sculpting, painting and assorting to the panels is remarkable.
This piece alone makes a trip to this gallery worthwhile."
